It all started when my daughter wanted me to build her a new bed. She really needed a change to help utilize the space in her room. That led to discovering her closet could also use a makeover. With the new layout it was going to be beneficial if her closet could also house her TV and such. Thus demo began. I failed to get a proper picture before we gutted everything. It was the typical closet set up with the top shelf, one hanging rod, and sliding doors. Here is what it looked like after everything was taken out…
My daughter really liked the idea of the back wall having a design on it. After lots of searching and contemplating she decided she wanted to go with a chevron pattern. We cutout out some templates from paper to play with to help figure out what kind of spacing she preferred. A fresh coat of paint and we were ready to go. My long level worked great as a guide to pencil out the straight lines, and a square ruler from my sewing stash tacked the angled lines.
Luckily we had a few options of paint lying around so we were able to get away without having to purchase additional supplies. The painting has turned out to be quite the chore as we chose to paint it all by hand, but it will be so worth it in the end! Here is a peek of it as we started on the second color..
We still have the second coat of paint on most of the colors to finish at this point. Then I get to head out to the garage and start building her new shelving. We’ve made good progress though and even more exciting is she is helping!! I’ll update with more photos soon!
